background checking is for 485. you can do nothing but wait after the background checking. you can also log on uscis website to get your current status by using your 480 and 140 file # that shows on your receipt notice. when did you get your fp? they start background checking after the fp. actually fp is the 1st step of background checking. i sumbit my 140 and 485 with nsc last nov and got my fp done in may but still no news yet.
