我的J1豁免剛拿到"不持異議信", 請問我還可以extend

我的J1豁免剛拿到"不持異議信", 但是J1的期限也隻有3個月了，為了保險起見， 我想再延長一年的J1(剛開始是2年的J1), 請問我還可以extend現在的J1 program嗎？

如果隻是在現在這個老板這裏作extension, 我的J1 program 的號碼應該不會變吧，這樣的話， 我還需要再跟中國大使館或者美國的DOS 寫信說明嗎？
