1) I would first goto CBP@airport to see if they could issue a new I-94 with 6 mo. Tell them you were told that visitors can normally stay for 6 mos, and bring the tickets with you. Details below

2) If you don't get luck@airport, file I-539 at the beginning of the 5th mo for EOS of 1 mo. While retaining the receipt, B-2 can leave as scheduled, w/o needing to care whether or not EOS will be approved since the decision will be mostly made after their leaving.

1) way takes you a trip to airport, and 2) way costs you $300 filing fee.
