-Once your kid uses EAD to work, he/she will lose the F1 status immediately and his/her status become AOS. So, if you are laid off and can not find a job when USCIS ask for RFE, your I-485 and your kid's I-485 might be denied and thus, your kid's status will be a problem. Therefore, I suggest that your kid had better not use EAD to work off campus.
