請問大俠 should i or when to renew ead.

485 在2007年6月遞交. at texac center. EAD will expire in august this year. My question is should i renew my ead given that processing date at Texas center is already over 20 days of my 485 recipt days (according to website - USCIS Processing Time Information for our Texas Service Center). If yes, when should i do it? I joined a new firm in dec 2008. The lawyer at my former firm told me that they want me to renew ead asap and charge me $2800 for it. My former firm lawyer didn't want to show me my employee termination notice that it sent to the USCIS. So not sure whether there is some complication after the USCIS got the letter. Thanks.
