once you filed and got the receipt, you can call CIS to request expedite your case. Just tell them you meet some emergency, they usually give you several options to choose: family emergency, financial emergency....you just tell them that you meet XXXX emergency and ask for expedite process. Usually they will finish in one week. My EAD and AP both were approved in one week after I called them.
