Help with 485 and AP

Several weeks ago, one of my relative passed away in China. At that time, my LD had regular AP receipt. So we went to local immigration office with the receipt to apply emergency AP for my LD. To our surprise, the officer told us that my LD had to fill in I-131 form and pay by money order. We did what she told us and got emergency AP the same day. After my LD went back to China, my LD's regular AP was also approved with two weeks. Now my LD is in China. I guess my LD should use the emergency AP back to US. But what about the regular AP? Is it still valid? Is the 485 also valid?

One thing I noticed quite different from what Pjiang said in his blog is that you have to pay even you have a AP receipt in hand. (Pjiang said in his Blog: AP 一般是 2-3 個月批下來，續與不續沒有什麽區別。如果你有緊急事務，可以到當地的移民局申請 Emergency AP, 如果你已經交過了 AP 申請，帶上 Receipt Notice, 不需要重複交費；若還沒申請，帶一份填好的 I-131 表格及照片，還有 Cash 以免不收信用卡). Perhaps immigration officers need money desperately during the economic crisis period.
