a certain staff in senator's office usually contacts USCIS. The Congressional Liaison in USCIS usually warmly responses with a routin answer that is not very meaningful to those long-pending cases, such as : "everything is current", "name check is clear", "pre-adjudicated", "good to go","in 45 days a desision should be made....."
but it does not mean your case is really being actively reviewed. In 45 days or 3 months, if the visa number regresses, they can say visa number is not available....
An obvious discrepency is why someone needs to wait 3 months if the case has been pre-adjudicated and visa number is availabe?
So, unless you really know an immigration Officer (his name) is actually working on it, don't trust too much for those seemingly promising response.
Thus, while pushing the senator's office for help, it is better prepare for WOM document at the same time just in case in 45 days there is still no news.
don't expect too much from the "3 month" routine answer
