Applicant may withdraw I-485 by writing to USCIS with such request, while withdrawal itself does not necessarily eliminate the fact of "ever" immigrant intent.
Although the applicant may argue that he has changed his mind and does not have immigrant intent, it is still at discretion of VO to issue a nonimmigrant visa.
Thus the applicant may incur more difficulty in obtaining such visa than others, if it is not impossible.
