If you can file EB1A in the grace period, you do not need to file F-1. If you have no time to file EB1a yet, just file F-1 to get some time. F-1 will not be approved when you have immigration intent. Also, you can not get F1 approved when you file it in the grace period. You have to go outside of US to get F1 visa for F1 status, but if you file I-485, you can not get F1 visa because of immigration intent.
