If you have started to work for new employer, and then use a leave to make this trip, you will be considered returning to the same employer and therefore H1 transfer is still good after AP entry. If you haven't start your new work, you are not returning to the same employer and therefore should use EAD after the AP entry. You also need to prepare for questions such as Why are you not working for the I-140 sponsor? during the AP inspection.
