Should dependent renew EAD (based on pending 485)?

Hi all,

In our situation, the dependent (H-4) used the EAD to work before. That EAD is going to expire soon.

If the dependent does not intend to work, is it necessary to renew the EAD? (if the EAD is not renewed, will this affect the legal status?) Is his current status H-4 or AOS?
