apply for GC by myself

Can I file I140 & I485 by myself? I am a nurse. I consulted some lawers, they all ask for at least $4,000 for GC application. Since the employer will sponsor my GC, can I just fill out I140 & I485 by myself and have the employer to sign it for me? Any suggestions? Thanks.
