OPT VS H4

In June 08, I filed H4, still pending, in process. My OPT is good from Jan 15 08 to Jan 14 09. I just got an offer. Can I work now till the day I get approval letter for H4? Or did I lose work right on the day I applied for H4 in June 08? Thanks.
