Question about AP and 485, Ask for help!!

My wife left USA this April(4/2008) and her AP will be expired the Nov. She plan to come back to USA Next summer (8/2009) since my son enrolled a better school in china. My son is US citizen. Questions:
1. Any effect on her I485 application since she will be out of USA for more than 6 month or 12 month? Immigration law has this regulations??
2. If she come back before her AP expired this Nov and leave again shortly after she get another AP, could this avoid jeopardize her I485 application?

Any suggestion??
