I-485 REF, please help!!!

The online status for my hu*****and and my 485s showed :" Request for Additional Evidence Sent on Sept.16, 2008".
My question is:
(1) they sent REF to me or lawyer? How long it takes to arrive?

(2) Generally how long will they give us for responding REF?

Very frustrated and really do not know what they want to since we submitted all we think to them in the initial submission.

Any one can help? Really appreciated!!!
