I had the same experience.

The online status said that USCIS sent me a letter for additional information but I never received the letter.

I called USCIS several times. they told me this was an computer error. They never actually sent me anything. but they can not change the online status from the Service Center. One IO from Texas Center also called me and told me just ignore the online status. But he refused to change the online status.I asked him to give me something as evidence, and he said NO.

I would suggest you to call them and find out what is going on. To be safe, I would also contact senators to inquire about your case. The senator office usually will forward you the response from the USCIS. Then you have something in hand as evidence.
