relocation notice to USCIS

Hi, My family got GC last year. Now I need relocate to a new place ( different state). but my wife and my son will stay the old place until at the end of this year. In order to save some money, I temporarily rented a room from a chinese family in my new place and I plan to rent an apartment by myself until my wife and my son move here. I was told I need notice USCIS in 10 days after I move to new place.But now I cannot notice USCIS new address because this is other people's house, not mine. I only temporarily live here for 4 months. Can I just live here without noticing USCIS until my family moves here at the end of this year? If not noticing USCIS, what will happen to me? Thanks!
