Your university attorney will put all evidences together and demonsrtate that you are absolutely outstanding professor/researcher in your field.

1). You have published articles in top or leading journals in your research area.
2). Your papers have citations, in which your research work can be used worldwidely to promote the academic research or product quality, etc.
3). Reviewer opportunity. You are making judgement in a few leading journals in your field.
4). Awards.
5). Recommendation letter. I suggest you may find one of the NSF managers your NSF project is for a strong recommendation.

Your attorney will do better work than you believe.

I have a weaker case than you have but got approval notice in one year. Believe yourself.
