1. If your EAD card has expired, you are not eligible for employment or receive wages, stipends, scholarships, grants, etc. until you renew your card and receive approval from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS). Once you renew your EAD card, you are eligible to work and accept funding.

2. If you wish to attend school full-time, you must change your status to J-1 or F-1.

3 As a J-2, you are not eligible to participate in a degree program. If you do so, you would be in violation of your J-2 status. However, if you submitted a request to the Vermont Center for a change of status, then you could attend school full-time (not part-time), but cannot receive wages or continue employmnet using your EAD card. I should add that prior to 9/11/2001, student applicants who had received admission and where in B-2, F-2 and J-2 status could attend school until INS granted them a change of status. This option is no longer available if you have not submitted a formal request to change your status.
The fact that you have admission does not grant you the right to attend school.
5. Without a change of status, you can attend classes that are "incidental" to your status.
