I think, you expired passport does not affect you unless you travel. You need to keep your status in US legal as much as you can. Since your B1 already expired, you need to either transferred to some other visa status such as H1. Or you need to get married to a US citizen and then start to apply for GC. Or you can use Asylum to apply for GC too.
