if it is for employment-based I-485, then some experience to share:
1. bring ALL materials for both I-140 and I-485, have a quick look at the fact, someone even ask who wrote the reference, what kind of paper you published, they just need to double-check the fact list on I-485

2. Community party membership

3. travel records, particually if you travel abroad.
