Does using new I-485 EAD invalidate my old I-485?

I am filing I-485 as derivative applicant of EB2--new case. Currently I am working on EAD from my I-485 application as primary applicant (EB3)--old case.

If I apply EAD and use it, will it invalidate my old I-485 case?
If I apply AP and use it, will it invalidate my old I-485 case?

Not sure whether this is safe. Many thanks!
