question about 485 processing date

First congratulations for being green!

My PD is Jan, 2006 and I filed my 485 last July. Since my PD is within the range, is the immigration office going to process my 485? Does calling them help to expedite my 485 processing? I have no idea about the 485 processing and the VB date. Any connection?
