of the Office of International Affairs. Hopefully, it is useful for you.
Although you hold a valid H-1B status, but you will need to apply for the H-1B visa to reenter the United States. You should apply for the visa as soon as possible after you arrive in your home country in order to give the Consult time to run a Security Advisory Opinion (SAO) against the application. In China it generally takes 3-6 weeks for the SAO to
clear and then they place the visa stamp in the passport.
However, you have to keep in mind that they can't deny the H-1B visa unless:
*you had a J visa and never went home for two years or got a waiver of 212E.
*you were illegally present
*you worked illegally
None of the above application to you, so they will approve your H-1B after the SAO clears.
You need the following to apply:
*Original H-1B approval notice or extension
*Copy of entire petition when you applied H1b or extension approval notice
*Three most recent pay statements
*A letter that you have to get from the Office of International Affairs to confirm your status
