I came to US 1998 as F-1 for Ph.D. (major: Mech Eng. - Energy and Environment).

Filed my I-140 1.5 years (March 2003) before getting my Ph.D. At that time:

- No US journal Paper, 3 conference paper
- Multiple technical reports/Presentations for Department of Energy
- Paper reviewer for 4 conferences/journal
- No major award
- Strong recommendation letters from industry, university, and government (national labs) personnels.

I got my Ph.D in Dec. 2003 and doing Post-doc since then.

I have to say I was very lucky but I prepared my I-140 very well. BTW, I did it all by myself.
