Also, as long as you remain your H-1B status and even if your I-485 is denied, your hu*****and and kid can reinstate their H-4 status by just returning to China to get H-4 visa back (no any risk to do that). So, you do not need to spend money to extend your hu*****and and your kid's H-4 status.
