your new publications will not be counted for submitted NIW

All the evidences used to judge your case is based upon when you submitted your NIW, not after. New publications can be only used for next application.

Rather, you have to focus on your achievement in a merit of national scope, such as how your research will potential affect cancer patients. I guess that is the "level" CIS referred. Also, you personal role is important too, such as you play a leading role in the group, and without you, the project will be greatly affected.

Do not focus on new publications, focus on your qualification.
