if your lawyer doesn't want to help again, you can either call by yourself or go infopass with your wife, or ask your congressman or senator to help.
From my experience, "call by yourself" is very time-consuming and they could give your wrong answer. Infopass is usually reliable, but sometime they probably said that they can not help through local office. the best way is to ask your state's congressman or senator. they usually have an immigration-issue office.
