Urgent Help

I received a mail from USCIS Texas Service Center asking
me to submit evidence to establish that I maintained my nonimmigration
status in the United States beginning on Sept. 1998 until July. 2000.
However, I initially came to the United States in Aug.2000, and I had
been in China during the mentioned period of time. The USCIS letter
says that my application will be denied if the requested information
is not submitted in 4 weeks. Please let me know what I should do.
