NOT NECESSARY

Usually you will receive RFE asking you to submit additional evidence within a specific period of time. If your application on its face shows you are not eligible for COS, your application may be denied. Once COS is denied, according to my knowledge (not based on extensive legal research), there is no appeal from this administrative decision. If you continue to stay in the U.S. more than 180 days, you will be subject to a 3-year bar, which means you are inadmissible for 3 years after you are physically outside the U.S. As long as you leave the country within 180 days, you won't be subject to any bar. Your concern about the future adverse impact is not far-fetched because everytime you apply for a visa to enter the U.S., your previous immigration history will be examined.
