Similar to my situation,I just received conditional greed card early this month.
If you are working, then you maybe in trouble, get a EAD ASAP. The reason I used "maybe" because when I filed I-485 in 2006 after married to a US citizen I was working and my H-1 has been been expired for years and no one seemed to care.(I know I may got lucky...)
If you have postponed an interview for this case in the past, I'd recommend you wait for a while before come back to China. USCIS sent me a letter to wrong address and I missed the first interview, so I mailed the letter with an explanation. The second letter came with a later date. It also says if I do not respond (ask for a different date or show up on time) then USCIS would turn down my case right away.
My personal experience.. Hope it helps : )
