booking an interview in Vancou

er. Any kind and experienced people please share your personal experience in booking an interview for visa to re-enter US in Vancouver.Questions as follows:
1.Can I pick a date for interview or visa officer will assign me a date?
2.Has anybody been issued F1 or F2 after landing in Canada and returned to US recently? If I apply an F1 visa in August to re-enter US after landing, do I need to make appointment now? How long does it take from booking an interview to being interviewed? Thanks for sharing.
