for accompanying derivative, many USCIS officers treat them the same as normal I-485 pending cases -- must have current PD. (your spouse's case)
So the difficult situation is for those who obvioulsy are accompanying spouses but don't file I485 before principal's 485 approval. Their I485 may be rejected by USCIS if PD retrogress again.
