How to apply a green card for my mother?

Dear Friends,

I am a US citizen. I would like to apply a green card for my mother (a retired professor of Pediatrics) who is currently visiting us but I do not know what procedures I should follow. Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Also I applied a green card for my wife 4 years ago but my wife still has not got her green card yet. Whenever we call, we were always told that her "security check" is still pending. We don't know what to do. When I applied the green card for my wife, she was still a medical student. Now, she almost finishes her residency and will start her fellowship in June. Since we have to move another city for my wife's fellowship, we are very concerned about possible delay due to our address change.

This is the first time I visit 移民論壇. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
