embarrsed situations for NIW

Today, one of my colleague told me his case:

He submitted two NIWs to different service center.

A - submitted in Nov 2006, denied recently
B - submitted in May 2007, approved in January 2007.

He has no idea what is his current status, approved or denied?

Any suggestions?
