more than 6 months, he/she may need to obtain a Returning Resident Permit. Otherwise, immigration officer may consider his/her permanent resident has been abandoned. This permit will help immigration officer to identify you as a permanent resident who traveled abroad with the intention of maintaining permanent resident status in Canada.
