I just came back to US by using AP in LA airport last month. The female immigration official just checks the AP forms (She kept one paper, and another paper was stamped and given to me for another entry) and password. She asks my mother's last name and also wants me to show the valid either credit card or ATM card without photo. The process is waiting 2 hours but it is without any problems.
