two waiting process

based on my knowledge, you have to wait two steps before your status can be approved. The first step is even your pd is current, you still need to wait according to the service center processing time. They publish this kind of info on uscis website. in the meanwhile, your name check/security (starts right after you submitted i-485) must be done before the approval. if they decided to approve your case, but nc is not ready, they won't do anything on it. you have to wait. after your nc is done, all other are ready, then you are ready to get gc at any time. But if your pd is nt current (means your pd is after the vb listed cutoff date for your category), you also need to wait.
