Sorry to give you some negative opinion. I had similar experience before. The truth is the company doesn't really want you to come on their board. so they gave you any reason. I think it is better to say no rather than any else reasons. You had better move on. At a later time, when I met some firm which really waht me to join them. everything is very smooth. You just try. If doesn't work, you need to move on.
