Need to extend H-4 with I-485 pending?

NIW I-140 has been approved, I-485 June filers. Primary applicant will keep H-1B.
1. Is it necessary to extend kids' H-4?
2. Spouse is on H-1B, if lost job and wants to use EDA for future job, is it necessay to change from H-1B to H4?
