LC is the first step for employment based GC. You should hold H1B to apply for LC. After LC, you can apply for I140 and I485 concurrently.
When you wait for the approve for I140 and I485, you can file EAD, if you I140 is approved but I485 has not in six months, you can use EAD to change you job.
