After waiting for three years of I-485, we finally noticed our case updated on the web: On November 7, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later.

This forum gave me a lot of advice and help, especially during the difficulty times, I would like to share with you about our experience.
I-485 filed on Sep 2004
then we tried infopass, tel calls (many times), congressman, senate, first lady, either no response or just simply saying FBI name check.

Recently we found a useful gov web, maybe only useful for those cases outside standand processing time (we didn't have a chance to use it, so not sure works or not; but worth to try):

Here is the web statement for CIS Ombusman:
The Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CIS Ombudsman) provides recommendations for resolving individual and employer problems with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). As mandated by the Homeland Security Act of 2002 § 452, CISOMB is an independent DHS office that reports directly to the DHS Deputy Secretary. The CIS Ombudsman:

* Assists individuals and employers in resolving problems with USCIS;
* Identifies areas in which individuals and employers have problems in dealing with USCIS; and
* Proposes changes to mitigate identified problems.
