Thanks a lot for the replies.

If I do want to apply H1, how do I and my laywer proceed? Will the paperwork be the same? Is there a law article that says I can keep I485 and apply for H1? My lawyer seems lack of experience and I need to show him the law. I have a plan to go home next year so I can try to get the H1 visa. Plus, I am working for a university hospital, so there is no quota issue. However, I worry that if I use H1B to enter US, my EAD or I485 will be terminated automatically.
