請教: Eligible for H-1 status vs. valid H-1 visa?

H1B expired. H1B extension application is pending. 140, 485, AP are all pending. Am I Eligible for H-1 status or in possession of a valid H-1 visa?
Second question (asked before, nobody answered), need Canada visa (one week business travel), Canada Immigration needs H1B approval notice, how can I convince Canada Immigration to grant me a visa.
