How to calculate 6 monthes?

I filed 140 and 485 this July, for 6 monthes , I can change job. But when is the start date for calculating the 6 monthes. Some say that it is from the day of 140 approval, some say that it is date of 485 submit, which one is right?
if my job is changed before my 140 approval, will my case be good still?
