Help: Does it mean that NC cleared for GC aplication based on ma

GC application based on marriage fell outside of timeline.

I filed GC application on April, 2006, and had done the interview on September, 2006. Until now, the application have not proved.
I called USCIS customer service this passed April, 2007. I did not get any mail from USCIS . I called USCIS Sept.28. The lady told me my case is in local office now. Local office did not make decision yet. I could call again after Oct 7, which is 6 months after my first call. What should I do in this situation? Should I use infopass to inquire in local office?

Another problem, my work permit already expired, and if my GC application would not be proved soon, I have to renew EAD, and it will take three months. I did not renew EAD because I thought my GC would be proved soon.
Should I go ahead to renew my EAD now or just wait for the response from USCIS?

Does it mean that NC cleared and local office wants to take more time to determine whether marriage is real?
