I am not a very smart person, could i understand your answer to my 2nd question like this?

If one person's short Canadian trip is AFTER the Receipt Date of his I-485 (now he is still waiting for this receipt), then his I-485 application will be considered "automatically abandoned" due to this trip. Right?

Thus the only safe way to travel even to Canada for a short meeting, when his I-485 is pending, is to use the Advanced Parol. Is this correct?
