pjiang等高手,my EB3 i-140 is under extended review? Help!

I applied EB3 I-140 at Nov 1 2006, still pending. went for infopass, said it is under extended review. my lawyer is really bad, doesn't care my case. could you please advise me what "under extended review" mean. does it mean background check? i found at forum that some I-140 also need background check, take forever. is it true? please advise. thanks.
