我該怎麽辦？

上個月我在網上找到一位洛杉磯的律師打算請他辦理我的綠卡。我在8月28日發出了我
已經簽了字的合同書和2500美元支票。我是用USPS的certified mail郵的。但是直到現
在網上查詢時始終是‘接收’狀態。我和郵局聯係，他們隻是說他們不負責track郵件
在哪兒，隻是他們把我的郵件記錄在案了。也不明說郵件就是丟了。而且他們說如果郵
件已在路上，我是沒法取消這個郵件的。
在這個過程中，我和那位律師通了幾次信。對他做事的態度和能力越來越不滿意。我剛
剛發出郵件不久，他就說你的郵件丟了，趕緊再發一個。郵件裏麵有支票，一位律師怎
麽能這麽不負責任地就讓再發呢？而且幾次郵件的英文都是漏洞百出。所以我很想
cancle掉我的支票和這個律師說byebye。但是，我擔心萬一過了幾天他們收到了有我簽
字的合同書，我豈不是還得接著雇用他嗎？那位高人能告訴我這種情況我該怎麽辦？萬
